Gorgeous colors, crunching leaves + the warm scents of pumpkin and cinnamon. What’s not to love about fall!? Autumn not only awakens all the senses, but creates a comfy and cozy atmosphere for everyone to enjoy. We especially love fall because we know it offers amazingly romantic fall engagement photo opportunities for couples looking for a rustic setting with the beautiful North Georgia mountains and changing leaves as their backdrop. Today we’re sharing some things to consider when planning your fall engagement photo session, inspired by The Barn at Tatum Acres, that’ll be sure to make your photos a hit!
Fall Engagement Session Tips for The Barn at Tatum Acres
Use your backdrop.
The vibrant colors painted across the sky + landscapes are one of the most loveable characteristics of fall (as well as our Georgia wedding venue), so it’s a great idea to use the outdoors as your backdrop! Search around for a spot that offers something special for your photos: a lake, mountains, a field, or – of course – trees. While it’s great to have those romantic, up-close shots of the couple, remember that your unique fall background will be sure to blow away your friends + family! It’s a good idea to have a few poses in mind for full body shots that not only show off the couple, but the scenery as well. Remember to use the lighting to your advantage. Golden rays are not only romantic, but also help create the fall feel.
Plan your outfits accordingly.
The fall season offers some of the best opportunities for adorable outfits. Everything from scarves to boots, there are so many choices for you + your significant other to wear. Make sure that the colors you choose to wear compliment your fall background and not clash or camouflage you. If your backdrop doesn’t have many of the bright fall colors, it’s the perfect opportunity to use these warm colors (shades of golden yellow, orange + red) for your outfits. If your background is splashed with bright colors and you want to stand out, cool colors (shades of purple + deep blue) are the perfect complementary colors to help you stand out without clashing. Try to stay away from using greens and light yellows as these colors can clash with your background and stray away from the warm, cozy feelings of fall.
Use fall elements.
While your background will make your engagement photos gorgeous and give them that fall feel, your use of fall elements can help make your photos more personal. Pumpkins, leaves and blankets are perfect tools for the couple to use to capture their unique style. Pumpkins are great for writing on, perhaps a special date or sentiment for the couple. Leaves allow the couple to get silly and have some adorable shots of them being themselves with each other. And of course, blankets are great for that romantic shot of the couple close and cozy as they wrap up in the blanket. The incorporation of fall elements such as these are great for creating a mix of romantic + fun shots that beautifully capture the couple.
At our outdoor Georgia barn wedding venue, we love when we see couples use the beautiful characteristics of fall to create some amazing engagement photo opportunities. We’re especially fans of autumn because the trees of the North Georgia Mountains that our venue overlooks turn the most beautiful colors! We always loving seeing how our couples get creative to celebrate their fall engagement.
