Bride and groom’s names
Ashley & Brian Knapp
How did you meet your husband?
One of my bridesmaids introduced us – they were friends from college.
Tell us the story of how he popped the question
It was a typical Friday evening and we were grilling out over at Brian’s. When we arrived, I remember thinking something was up. The house looked freshly cleaned and vacuumed and Brian was getting aggravated that dinner was taking longer to cook than he thought. Later after dinner, Brian asked if I wanted to dance. I immediately thought to myself…. DANCE?! He knows I am not a dancer! It took me one second to then realize what was going on, all the “odd” things I had questioned prior to dinner were adding up! Brian turned on Brad Paisley’s song “She’s Everything.” We started to slow dance, I couldn’t even focus on what my feet were doing, I had a million thoughts running through my mind.
Is this really happening?
Is there anything in my teeth?
Do I smile?
Do I act like I don’t know what is about to happen?
Does anyone know he is proposing tonight?
I wonder if anyone is taking pictures?
Who do we call first?
Next thing I knew, Brian was down on one knee asking me to marry him. I was thrilled! I tried to mutter the word “Yes,” but the joyful emotion of this moment had completely taken over my voice, all I could do was nod my head “Yes.” I had turned into complete mush looking like the typical pageant girl (or Taylor Swift anytime she is accepting an award) with my hands over my mouth in astonishment. Brian then took the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen out of the box to place on my finger. We were ENGAGED!
What was your wedding date and why did you choose it?
Our wedding date was 9.12.15. We chose this date because we wanted a Fall wedding and thought that September would be perfect weather for a wedding in the mountains!
What was your overall vision for your wedding?
The overall vision for the wedding was Country Chic. I love the rustic décor and all that Tatum Acres offered, but I also wanted to incorporate a softer, feminine side to the masculine mountainous outdoors.
What do you feel was the most special component of your wedding?
It’s hard to pick just one special component of the wedding because everything flowed together so perfectly! The venue helped set the overall tone of the wedding. My sweet wedding coordinators assisted with keeping with the timeline. The guest helped make it a night to remember and our photographer allowed us to have some amazing prints to relive the best day ever!
How involved was your groom in the wedding planning process?
He was more involved than I thought he would be, and for that I am grateful! At times, I liked to jokingly refer to him as “Groomzilla,” but thanks to his help, we stayed on budget and had the wedding of our dreams!
Did you have a wedding theme or color pallet, and if so how or why did you choose it?
Our wedding palette started off as navy, ivory and accents of gold. When it was all said and done, we had added blush and pearl accents. We chose navy as the color the groom and groomsmen would wear, blush for the bridesmaids, and all the other colors seemed to be great accent colors!
How important are the typical wedding traditions?
Traditions are fun, but I wanted to add a more modern twist to some of your typical wedding traditions. For instance, we decided to add lottery tickets to the toss bouquet and garter. Reason being is we wanted everyone participating, and who doesn’t love money?!
Why did you choose your wedding venue?
We chose our venue based on the breathtaking view of the North Georgia Mountains.
Other personal touches?
I wanted to include white pumpkins throughout the ceremony and reception as an elegant touch of fall so… I grew 200+ white pumpkins for our décor! We used mini white pumpkins (even spray painted some gold) in tall vases as filler for our center pieces. We also had our ring bearers carry down mini pumpkins tied off with a faux ring and navy bow.
