Bride and groom’s names:
Katie and Cody Cabe
How did you meet your husband?
We met in 2009 at a rodeo in Cumming, GA. We talked, he asked for my number, I gave it to him, and the rest is history!
Tell us the story of how he popped the question:
Cody had bought our first home in September 2014 and we were fixing it up while still living with our parents. We finally got done getting the house ready to move in at Christmas time. Cody said he wanted us to spend the night at the new house on Christmas Eve. I cooked us dinner with my borrowed pots and pans and Cody got up and went into the bedroom. He called me and asked me to come in, so I did. He said “you know I love you.” Not knowing where this was going I said “yes, I love you too.” Then he held up the ring in his hand and said, “will you be my wife?” I shouted, “of course!!” I was so excited! It was totally unexpected. By far the best Christmas gift ever.
What was your wedding date and why did you choose it?
We chose October 10, 2015 because we always wanted an outdoor Fall wedding when it wasn’t hot, wasn’t cold, and the leaves were turning their beautiful fall colors.
What was your overall vision for your wedding?
We’re both pretty laid back, so we wanted our wedding to be casual. Our vision was rustic chic.
What do you feel was the most special component of your wedding?
We had a table in the reception area dedicated to those who have passed, but were with us in spirit. This included pictures of our family members. This was especially important to Cody, whose step-dad had passed away about a year before our wedding. Since his step-dad, Kenny, couldn’t stand next to him at the altar, we put his picture at the altar right next to Cody.
How involved was your groom in the wedding planning process?
Cody was somewhat involved. He helped me decide on the venue, food and music. The little details he left up to me to do as I pleased, for which I was grateful!
How important are the typical wedding traditions?
We are both pretty traditional, and wanted our wedding to reflect that. We both agreed we wanted the ceremony to be simple and straightforward with the traditional biblical vows with the pastor at our church.
Why did you choose Tatum Acres as your wedding venue?
I fell in love with Tatum Acres as soon as I stepped foot on the property. It was beautiful, spacious, had breathtaking views, and went perfect with our vision. I would definitely recommend it!
Did you have a wedding theme or color pallet, and if so how or why did you choose it?We chose sunflowers and yellow dresses with some raw cotton, ghost pumpkins, burlap and ivory lace décor because I wanted a casual country wedding with fall colors. And yellow is my favorite!
